Submitting an IRB application involves several steps to ensure your research proposal is ethically sound and meets regulatory requirements. Below is a general process for submitting an IRB application:

Steps: (For human subject research)

1. Gather and complete all required documents (Located in the MGS IRB Library) 

IRB Application Form: Provides a detailed overview of the study.
Research Protocol: Describes objectives, methods, risks, and safeguards.
Informed Consent Documents: Details participant rights and study information.
Recruitment Materials: Copies of advertisements, flyers, or emails.
Study Instruments: Surveys, questionnaires, or interview guides.
Conflict of Interest Disclosure: If applicable, disclose potential conflicts.
Supporting Documents: Include letters of support, training certificates, or collaborative agreements.

2. IRBs categorize reviews into three types based on the study's level of risk:

Exempt Review: Minimal-risk studies that fall under specific categories, such as anonymous surveys.
Expedited Review: Studies involving minimal risk but not qualifying as exempt.
Full Board Review: Studies with more than minimal risk or involving vulnerable populations (e.g., children, prisoners).

3. Submit the completed Application; including all supporting documents and associated fees.

4. Respond to any required feedback.

5. Recieve IRB Approval and begin research.

6. Submit annual progress reports (If study is longer than 1 year)

7. Submit Final Report
