Dr. Spalding trains students of all ages to improve sensory motor connections in the brain. She has completed a PhD doctoral program focusing on research in Psychology, Kinesiology and Educational Leadership from Colorado State University. Her doctoral dissertation research concerned the effects of contralateral movement across the midline and involved teachers, counselors and psychologists from the United States and Russia. Her post-graduate work is centered on the processes of Logotherapy, originated by Dr. Viktor Frankl and implemented by the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy.
Since 1989, she has been an instructor for the Educational Kinesiology Foundation and through specialized training since 2003 has been a consultant and instructor for the Svetlana Masgutova Educational Institute. (SMEI) As a CORE specialist and an instructor with the Institute, she assists at family conferences with clients who have developmental disabilities. Since 2012, she has contributed over 3500 hours working at family conferences in the United States and Poland. As an instructor for the Institute, she teaches goal setting and reflex integration processes for the Stress and Trauma Recovery program.
As part of her clinical work, Dr. Spalding works with individuals who have developmental learning challenges. Her work involves using Educational Kinesiology and the Neuro-Reflex Integration program of MNRI.
Her previous educational career included being co -founder of Advanced Brain Gym llc, in which she developed SOAR, an after school program for the state of Colorado, Supplemental Educational Services. SOAR emphasizes experiential exercises using the Multiple Intelligences and Neurodevelopmental processes such as Educational Kinesiology ,(Brain Gym) and Masgutova Neurosensory-motor Reflex Integration which are used as an integral part of the language arts, mathematics, and language enrichment programs. She used these skills to teach workshops for 15 years for Colorado State University.
She has been a member of the Evergreen Rotary club since 1990. Volunteering for Rotary International for one year in 1991, and for one -month periods in subsequent years, she has taught university classes for teachers and psychologists in Belize, Russia, Latvia, Tajikistan, Mexico and Peru.
